The 2015 season was characterized by change -- new coaches Angus Leung and Damian Rodriguez led the team, and new courses (for these athletes) were run at the Rosemead Invitational, Central Park Invitational, and CIF Prelims in Riverside. It was also a season where Lacy Park was closed due to construction until the last week of the season -- impacting both training and League meets (thankfully we were able to host League Finals at Lacy). And, the Cross Country team now has an official booster club led and supported by great parent volunteers.
There was also a continuation of recent tradition -- including a fun season kickoff scavenger hunt run organized by the captains followed by a pot luck pool party hosted by the McCall’s, a great team bonding trip (this season to Mt. Carmel in San Diego), wonderful parent support, running the Mt. SAC Invitational on a warm, dry late October Friday, and achieving the opportunity to compete in CIF. Perhaps most important is the Titan cross country tradition of a fine group of student athletes who perform well on the course as well as in the classroom and their other extracurricular activities (and have fun and create great friendships along the way). The coaches highlighted this last point in their comments at the team banquet, and gave specific awards as noted below:
