The Lady Titans reached the CIF-SS XC Finals for the first time since 2016. The team placed 22nd with a score of 546 points. Senior Puja Balaji led the Titans with a 19:53 performance (68th), followed by Juniors Peyton Talt (88th, 20:24), Karen Lee (127th, 21:18), and Lily Tong (141st, 21:45). Senior Katie Wong was the 5th scorer, placing 152nd (22:04). Each athlete improved over their time the previous week at Prelims. Links to results and the CIF race video are below. |

The Lady Titans competed in the second of two CIF-SS Division 4 prelims races and qualified for CIF Finals by placing 8th as a team with 204 points (1:47:04). Steady senior Puja Balaji led the team with a 17th place finish at 20:12. The remaining scorers were soph Anya Tang (34th, 21:02), junior Peyton Talt (35th, 21:08), junior Karen Lee (65th, 22:15) and senior Katie Wong (73rd, 22:25). Junior Jonathan Karkafi competed in Heat 1 of the Boys D4 prelims as an individual, placing 93rd with a time of 18:45. Links to results and the CIF race video are below. |

The Lady Titans earned a trip to CIF-SS Prelims by placing 3rd with 62 points (to La Canada’s 42 andSouth Pas’ 50). Senior Puja Balaji earned league first team honors by placing 6th in a time of 19:28. Soph Anya Tang (10th, 20:21), junior Peyton Talt (12th, 20:23) and junior Lily Tong (14th, 20:35) all earned league second team honors. The remaining scorer was junior Karen Lee (20th, 21:17). In the Boys Varsity race, the team placed 4th with a score of 87 points (1:29:31) and missed qualifying for CIF competition. Junior Jonathan Karkafi earned league first team honors placing 7th (17:09) and frosh Thai Villaluna earned second team honors by placing 14th (17:46). The remaining scorers were Neil Chen (18th, 17:58), Gavin O’Malley (21st, 18:01), and Leighton McBryde (27th, 18:37). In the JV Boys race, the Titans placed 4th with a score of 126 points. The top JV athletes were senior Ranjin Repetti (18th, 19:29) and Caleb Lian (23rd, 19:57). The Titans also placed 4th in the Frosh-Soph Boys race, scoring 96 points. Soph Ethan Foong paced the squad with a 18:53 time, good for 7th place. The next finishers were Aiden Ye (29th, 20:00) and Michael Yuratich (30th, 20:00). 2019 Rio Hondo League Meet #2 |

Rio Hondo League Meet #2 was held at Crescenta Valley Park. In Varsity Boys competition, South Pasadena, led by senior standout Sam Clark, won the team competition with 26 points (going 1, 3, 4, 7, 11) over La Canada with 39 points. On the girls’ side, La Canada edged South Pasadena 33 pts to 34 pts. La Canada was paced by Ellaney Matarese and Sarah Auther, who went 1-2, and South Pas by Sydney Morrow in 3rd. Rio Hondo League Meet #1 was held at Lacy Park on the same day that Presidential candidate Joe Biden had a fundraiser down the street. Local authorities closed the St. Albans parking lot exit, and host La Canada coach Andy DiConti had to do a last minute revise on the course layout. Kudos to Andy for coming up with an alternate 3 mile course on short notice! With the new course, all winners are course record holders (likely in perpetuity)! A revised course layout used at the meet is HERE In Varsity Boys competition, South Pasadena, led by Sam Clark, won the team competition with 30 points (going 1, 2, 5, 9, 13) over La Canada with 36 points. Temple City came in third with 92 points. On the girls’ side, La Canada just beat South Pasadena 40 pts to 43 pts. La Canada was paced by Ellaney Matarese and Sarah Auther, who went 1-2, and South Pas by Sydney Morrow in 3rd. San Marino was third with 70 pts. Links to complete results below: |
