Freshman gives the girls’ team a boost

Olivia Harrigian, daughter of Titan XC great, Mike Harrigian (‘80), is running with the front pack in summer workouts.  Coach Mundo has conducted two time trials on the first mile of the Lacy Park course this summer and Olivia has stayed right with Alissa.  Sophomore Sarah Linton is a solid #3.  The team will need a couple of more girls to tailgate Sarah If they are to make a deep run into the post-season.  While the Bosco Tech race on September 8th will yield an early read, it is the Mt. SAC Invitational (October 19) that will be the first true measure of the potential of this team.  Stay tuned.

Top 7 look like they may each crack
18 minutes; team is young

If the first mile of the course is any indication, it looks like this young team could run as two packs.  Pack running is one of the keys to scoring well and beating other teams.  Of course, if the pack runs slow, you still lose.  But if you can get 7 guys under 18 minutes with the fast pack around 16:30, you have a CIF team.  This could be a CIF team.  And not just in 2012 but also in 2013.  We’ll have to wait and see how hard this group is willing to work but they are off to a good start.  We’ll also have to wait and see what Temple City and Monrovia have this year.
