Temperatures in the mid-90s and dry Santa Ana conditions forced mid-day races to be run on the 2 mile “Heat Course”. The conditions were still very challenging when the Varsity races were run later in the day on the traditional 2.93 mile hill course. Despite the heat, quite a few Varsity boys achieved Mt. SAC personal bests (there are no comparative Titan times on the 2 mile heat course). Eric Lew shaved over 30 seconds off his previous best, running 17:00 to take 12th place. Xavier Beck was the second Titan at 17:33 (22nd). The remaining scoring runners each had significantly faster personal bests: Tom Moffat (18:40 PR, 61st), Alex Powers (18:49 PR, 65th), and Tim Wong (19:40 PR, 77th). The Titans placed 9th as a team in their D4 race. Given that CIF will be at Riverside this year, this was the last race for the seniors on the famously difficult Mt. SAC hills.
The Sophomore Boys team placed 5th in their D4/D5 race on the 2 mile course. Patricio Osegueda led the Sophs with a time of 11:04, good for 15th place. Sean Chen came through next in 11:31 and 27th place. The remaining Titan scorers were Joseph Weber (11:45, 40th), Bill Li (12:08, 60th) and Ben Tang (12:26, 75th).
The Frosh Boys team placed 8th in their D4/D5 race, also on the 2 mile course. David Castellanos (12:55, 62nd) and Kai Barra (12:55, 63rd) came through the finish together. Alain Phung was the next scorer (13:35, 89th), followed by Lawrence Chung (14:24, 108th) and Justin Leung (14:26, 110th).
The Lady Titans only had five athletes compete across two races, so there were no team scores. Juliana Judge was the fastest on the 2 mile course, coming through in 11th pace with a time of 12:52 in the D4/D5 Soph race. Purvaj Balaji moved up to the Soph division and placed 14th in a time of 12:58 six seconds behind Juliana. Senior Kat Chen was the fastest Titan in the D4 Girls Varsity race, placing 55th in a time of 24:05 on the traditional 2.93 mile course.
