The Titans traveled north to Clovis (near Fresno) for the competitive Clovis Invitational. The 5K races are held at Woodward Park on the same course where the California state championship meet is held in late November. This year’s road trip continues an annual tradition of traveling to a meet, and provided an opportunity for both team bonding and racing.
Competing in the Frosh-Soph girls D3/D4 race, Olivia Ruiz (3rd, 20:30) and Purvaja Balaji (5th, 20:44) had top 5 finishes and led the team to a fifth place finish overall. They were followed by Juliana Judge (26th, 21:52), Meg Hannan (36th, 22:23) and Katie Wong (73rd, 25:04). Senior Kat Chen was the top Titan lady in the D3/D4 JV Girls race, finishing 19th in a time of 23:55.
On the boys side, Senior Eric Lew led the Varsity guys with a time of 16:41, good for 17th place in the D3 race. The next four scoring runners were Tom Moffat (175th, 18:42), Alex Powers (184th, 19:05), Tim Wong (189th, 19:19), and Grant Holt (204th, 19:58). In the D3/D4 Frosh-Soph Boys race, sophomore Sean Chen continues to impress leading the guys with an 18:30 (36th), which was the second fastest time by a Titan guy at the meet. Sean was followed by Patricio Osegueda (56th, 18:57) and Josh Rose (63rd, 19:11), each of which had times competitive with the guys on the varsity squad. Coach Angus entered many of the Frosh-Soph runners in the D3/D4 JV Boys race, and soph Trevor Leon led with a 21:28 in 82nd place. He was followed closely by David Castellanos (83rd, 21:37), Ethan Deshaies (85th, 21:40) and Kai Barra (88th, 21:43).
