Get ready to take on the beast of the Rio Hondo League. Coached by a veteran crew with names like PJ and and CB, this is a big team which can be split into multiple meets in a single day. They have participated in at least 8 meets, mostly invitationals, this season.
Like us, South Pasadena’s strong team is the girls team. If SoPas puts their power athletes in their power events, it will be a long day. With Alissa opting for the 400 and the relay, it will be left to Monica and Anya to provide the excitement.
The men match up much more closely. Our relay teams are within striking distance as are Drew and Yuwan in the mile and Matthew and George in the hurdles. Chip may take his races but John and Kenny will get another look at the backs of Messana and Wilson, two lads they know well from cross country. If the meet is close enough to be determined by the field events, it could be a very close outcome. Jonathan Yau has the potential to win the shot, Mitchell Hee might be fighting for gold in the long jump and Matthew Ferraco is competitive in the high jump.
So, lets take a look at what we will be chasing. The following are somewhat random examples of their better performances for each event:
