Redondo Nike Invitational

March 13-14, 2015 at Redondo Union High School

Olivia Harrigian kicked off her 2015 track season by running 11:12 in the 3200.  This was 14 seconds off her 2014 PR and was good enough for 8th place against tough competition from larger schools from throughout southern California, and at the time was the top 3200 time registered in CIF Southern Section Division 3.

Pasadena Games

A small group of Titans started their Spring Break by participating in the Pasadena Games Invitational.  It was a long, hot day, but gave the athletes another opportunity to compete with automatic timing before the Rio Hondo season starts.  We have race video of Titans in the evening Invitational heats HERE.

South Pasadena Tiger Invitational

The Tiger Invitational is scheduled to take advantage of the nationally regarded Arcadia Invitational down the road the same weekend.  This year 2,300 athletes competed, hailing from southern California, a number of other states including Arizona and Utah, as well as Canada and New Zealand.  In the 1600M, Olivia Harrigian ran 5:11 and took 3rd place.  She dropped over 20 seconds off her previous best in the 1600 and joined the San Marino High top 10 all time list. As of the meet date, her time placed her in the top 15 among CIF-SS D3 competitors.  A video of Olivia’s race can be found HERE.

San Gabriel Valley Championships

April 25, 2015 at San Dimas High School

The San Gabriel Valley Championships meet brings together top athletes from throughout the greater San Gabriel Valley independent of the school CIF Division.  Entrance in the meet is selective based on current year event marks.  This year, seven San Marino athletes were entered to compete.  Unfortunately, the rain that seemed to have been predicted for much of the week finally arrived around 1:00 PM on meet day and forced cancellation of the in-progress field events (including Varsity Pole Vault) -- a disappointment for Angeline Wong who placed 2nd in the Girl’s Varsity Pole Vault at the meet last year and was seeded 2nd this year.  The rain also caused meet officials to cancel the track events, but not until after the intrepid Angela Wang and Olivia Harrigian had waited out a rain delay and ran through the cold and rain in the Girl’s Varsity 800 races.  Earlier in the day, Olivia shaved a 10th of a second off her PR to finish 9th in the Girl’s Championship 1600 at 5:11.69.  Kobe Oh also got a PR by vaulting to 9’ 11” (a 5” improvement over previous best) to finish 11th in the Frosh-Soph Boy’s Pole Vault.
