The Titans had success in the Friday night relays -- with the varsity girls winning both the 4x1600 in 24:52.99 and the 4x800 in 11:24.73. The varsity boys took 3rd in the Sprint Medley relay (200-200-400-800M) in 4:08.19, and the frosh-soph boys took 2nd in the 4x800 relay with a time of 4:08.19. On Saturday in the individual events, the field athletes shined brightest for the Titans. Keila Barra won the frosh-soph girls High Jump with a 4’ 6” performance (she also placed 6th in the 400M) followed by Chloe Leftwich in 5th place with a 4’ 2” effort. Barra’s high jump mark would have tied for 1st in Rio Hondo League frosh-soph finals in 2015, so this is an excellent early season performance. On the boys side, Chuma Azinge took 3rd place in the Varsity boys Triple Jump with an excellent 42’ 7” mark, a personal best and a performance that would have took 2nd in Varsity Rio Hondo League Finals in 2015. Jonathan Mak was not far behind, winning the frosh-soph boys Triple Jump in 40’ 5.5”, a mark that significantly exceeded his previous best and would have taken 4th in RHL Varsity finals in 2015. Anson Kwan won the frosh-soph boys Pole Vault with an 11’ 0” effort, also a personal best and a performance that would have easily won the frosh-soph Rio Hondo title in 2015. Other notable efforts included Olivia Ruiz running 3rd in the frosh-soph girls 800M in a super 2:31.9 time, Quentin Dunkel achieving a significant personal best time of 52.92 to finish 6th in the varsity 400M, and Jimmy Fuerst soaring to 5’ 4” to take 5th in the varsity High Jump.
