February 2 - Barbara Ann Ferrell (-Edmonson) (born 28 July 1947 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi), whose nickname is Coach E, has begun her new position as head track coach at San Marino High School. Coach E has been working with the team since Monday.
She comes from the coaching staff at University of Las Vegas and represented the United States at the 1968 and 1972 Olympics, competing mainly in the 100 meters. During the 1968 summer games in Mexico City, she finished second to teammate and 1964 Gold Medalist Wyomia Tyus. The two then joined together with fellow Americans Margaret Bailes and Mildrette Netter to take the gold medal in the 4 x 100m relay.
