The Titan team wound up Rio Hondo competition with 5 girls qualifying for CIF in individual events. Boys and girls 4x100 and 4x400 relay squads also qualified. Girls qualifiers were Senior Olivia Ruiz (3rd in 800 at 2:22.96), pole vaulters Avery Page (1st at 9’ 6”), Chadney Lim (2nd at 9’ 0”) and Sophia Battaglia (3rd at 8’ 6”), and Junior Hannah Collazo in the shot put (2nd at 28’ 10”).
The Frosh-Soph boys and girls also grabbed some medals. On the boys side, Matt Karapetyan placed 3rd in the 100M (11.83, PR), Jonathan Karkafi took home two medals - placing 3rd in 800M (2:12.30) and winning the 1600M (4:47.07), Glover Talt placed 3rd in the Shot Put (39’ 6”), Holden Kenney won the pole vault (10’ 6”), and Jonathan Fong was a double medalist in the pole vault (3rd, 9’6”) and long jump (3rd, 17’ 0”). The boys 4x400M relay team also placed 3rd (3:42.84). On the girls side, Anya Tang placed 3rd in the 800M (2:38.65), Madison Spitzer was a double medalist taking second in the 100 M Hurdles in 18.60 and winning the pole vault in 8’ 0”, Maddie McClam took 3rd in the Discus (42’ 9”), and Glenda Chen was a double medalist in the long jump (2nd, 15’ 2.75”) and triple jump (3rd, 29’ 7.25”). The girls 4x400M relay team also placed 3rd in 4:37.14.
All of the Titan medal winners are listed below. Varsity athletes that qualified for CIF compeition head to Estancia High in Orange County for CIF-Division 3 competition on May 4.
